COMtech is located in the geographic center of Robeson County, North Carolina, which is the vortex of interstate I-95 (N-S) and I-74 (E-W).

The region offers moderate temperatures allowing for four distinct seasons. Picturesque weather is available during the spring and fall, which permits numerous outdoor activities.

An occasional snowfall blankets the area, allowing for the building of snowmen and sledding during the winter.

Livability

The southeast region is rich in cultural and historical attractions with both larger cities and small towns offering bountiful opportunities for enrichment and enjoyable experiences. North Carolina’s southeast also has nearly a hundred fun festivals throughout the year; based on geography, a holiday, or ethnic theme. The region is home to many professional and collegiate sports, including arena football, baseball, basketball, motor sports and soccer.

​The region has 26 public libraries in addition to three public university libraries and libraries of six private colleges. In addition, the community colleges and counties have libraries with over 1,000,000 volumes available for use.

​The southeastern area is served by three major retail centers with over 2,715,637 square feet and 239 stores, as well as numerous small shopping centers. Most national chains have stores in the region. All areas have multiple newspapers, radio stations and television stations to choose from as well as access to high-speed broadband.

Cultural

There are over fifty cultural / historical attractions within a one-hour drive. These include opportunities such as Carolina Civic Center in Lumberton (six miles), an extensive cultural / entertainment program at Givens Performing Arts Center at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (three miles), museum of the Cape Fear (40 miles), Airborne and Special Operations Museum (40 miles), North Carolina Indian Cultural Center (20 miles) and others.

Health Care

UNC Health Southeastern, which is licensed for 452 beds, is a comprehensive healthcare system that offers an array of services through its affiliated divisions. The medical center is accredited by DNV-GL Healthcare and offers a combination of acute care, intensive care and psychiatric services to more than 13,000 inpatients and 60,000 emergency patients annually. As a nonprofit organization, UNC Health Southeastern is operated by a local board of trustees whose only remuneration is the assurance it is making quality healthcare available for its community.

There are more than 135 physicians on the active medical staff. UNC Health Southeastern is still the only hospital in Robeson County and serves patients throughout southeastern North Carolina.

The 9th largest public school system in North Carolina, operating 25 elementary, 10 middle and 6 high schools.

Recreation

Southeast North Carolina provides recreation in a variety of forms. Activities available in the region’s eight state parks include: camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, jogging, hunting, water-related sports, swimming, recreation sports, and nature walks.
